@phildoherty AI in general has grown very centralized around SF lately, and crypto is unique in being the opposite, I think in part because of an intentional desire to be that way. I suspect the crypto space even has unique evolved arrangements like a very strong global conference culture that makes it easy for people who are far away from top-tier locations to still feel connected.

@vbuterin Thanks! Hopefully AI follows. SF is suffering quite a lot at the moment, feels like it needs a chance to reset. It's a beautiful place so it's a shame about it's current state.

@phildoherty @vbuterin Unfortunately I don't think it will follow. AI tends towards centralization due to the needs of computational power and data storage. (correct me if I'm wrong :) )

@vbuterin @phildoherty The needs of the technology (data, computational power) make it gravitate towards centralized structures, that extend also to the location of employees. (That's at least my theory :)) Not saying it's not possible to have a distributed team working on it.
