       @stux Is it really possible to hail a bus in some places? Everywhere I've been, the driver wasn't permitted to stop anywhere other than a designated stop, and they would always stop if anyone was waiting.

       @stux In Victoria BC blind persons can stand at a bus stop and display a booklet with the bus numbers clearly showing, one per page, so the driver knows which bus they are trying to catch.

       @stux 25 years ago I was living in Leicester with my partially sighted partner.  The local RNIB group gave him a folder containing large white magnetic numbers which he could select and then hold for bus drivers to see.  So only drivers of the service he wanted needed to stop. Really seemed to work well.

       @stux here they even have loudspeakers at the outside announcing the line and where it is going, that works.
