Just for the record, most of us black folks DON'T trust black cops either. Do you think these black cops would have beat a white person to death. NO. I have a cousin who was a cop and a black trump supporter. He was a CO at Rikkers Island in NY and used to tell me stories of brutality in the prison while he joked about it. @TruthSandwich I'm sure that some do but when you become indoctrinated in "protecting the shield" over "protect and serve", your original intentions become increasingly less apparent.

@wiseguyeddie Blue goes deeper than black, is the phrase I've heard.The problem with systemic racism is that you can further it even if you disagree with it vehemently.For example, when a cop is assigned to patrol and overpoliced area, just doing their job evenhandedly contributes to that overpolicing.

@TruthSandwich Just from my own experience with two cousins, one a CO and the other works for the FBI. Both are RWNJs and I have heard their testimonials. They may have both started with a save the world mentality but it lapsed into an "us versus them" mentality as the years of service marched on.

@wiseguyeddie I sometimes wonder if wanting to be a cop should disqualify a person from being one.Seriously, the kind of folks who're excited about a job that lets them have a badge and a gun and the legal right to bully people... words fail me.That insular, us-vs-them mentality is what makes the police a danger to society. They need to be beaten down and forced to work for us, not themselves.

@Jeff @wiseguyeddie We don't need robots, we need humans who face consequences for their misdeeds.This is literally the whole concept behind the justice system. Now we just have to apply it to the people running the system, not just its targets (or, in some cases, victims).
