@rydia totally agree. This kind of rhetoric doesn't help the community. You can live without systemd and there's no need to shit on other's work.

@gbraad @clmbmb I can understand why it’s directed at Lennart. I had the pleasure of being in the live audience of a talk interrupted by Lennart, where he finally went to the stage to take over the talk, because he couldn’t take any criticism. That talk was about “What’s wrong with modern desktop Linux”. If someone acts this way, I can understand the reactions. On top of that is that he intentionally writes unportable software with the intention to kill the BSDs. Not a nice person at all.

@js @clmbmb I have worked with Lennart and I shared many beers. This criticism repeated for years gets to you. He is thick-skinned but also human.I do not know the situation you saw, but there might have been something before, who knows.And sure... We have disagreed at times.

I also do not write BSD compatible software, as it is not something I can maintain.There is more to thisEverybody is entitle ld to his own opinion, but publicly calling someone out in an overly negative fashion... Or gaslighting as they would call it now, is not OK.

@gbraad @clmbmb There is a difference in intentionally being unportable and just not porting it. Also maintainable code base and unportable software have nothing to do - if making software unmaintainable by making it portable, all it means is that the software failed at finding the right level of abstraction to use.
