@stux Seriously. I've made a conscious choice not to watch the video so as not to traumatize myself or unnecessarily see Black pain vicariously, but I believe those who have seen and experienced it.These officers (and all the white officers who do this shit on a daily basis) need to face serious accountability. @stux Washington and the rest of the political "elites" want to start controlled riots right now to distract and lock up a bunch of folks. Mainstream media here in the US are pushing a "protest" narrative right now in hopes of getting people hyped up.I've seen this many times before. @stux @carolinehelene Dutch police has done some horrible crap and there are plenty of reports and videos about that. Hard to beat US cops, but police violence and racist police are very much a thing in the Netherlands.

The netherlands is not a great place with the weatherNot very cold but often gray and depressing But there are plenty other warmer countries. I wanted the US for the language and tech

@stux @carolinehelene Hmm, I don't know. Police violence is underreported and understudied, and large parts of the population live in bubbles where they do not encounter that violence. Again, US cops aren't a useful standard to compare yourself with.

If you move to the US, you will be making a lot of trade-offs, particularly public transit.In United States, nothing really even comes close to the Netherlands in terms of bike infrastructure.Lastly, the health insurance system here is a bureaucratic nightmare.

@stux Whether or not I watch it wonāt mean anything to anyone else, and no one will know if I did or didnāt. But I feel like, if he had to endure it, and if Iām somehow going to be a tiny, minuscule part of the solution, the least I can do is not look away. Thatās totally on me, though, no one else needs to feel that way. So long as they donāt forget about it.
