i want to have a separate email for all of my legal/governmental/capitalist shit (rent, taxes, you name it).i wont have problem in self-hosting a domain and manage my emails from there, but i don't know if it's worth it?the alternative would be to use an email provider (was thinking either tutanota or ccrypto), have a boring email address rather than a gay one, but less hassle i guess?please, help me decide. lol.:boost_ok: :at_me:

@fmmniell If you go the self hosted route, you can even have as many addresses as you need, no need to restrict to two. Each time a service or business asks me a mail address, I give them one specifically for them. If I get spam or w/e, I know where it comes from and can easy block it by removing the alias. Whether it's worth it, is up to you. It is for me and there are good and easy solutions out there, but it's still something to run and manage.

@ilja @fmmniell can confirm, also, use sieve rules that target specific headers to prevent spam. Best place to look is AuthenticationResults/header.i. This way, you don't target a whole provider.

@l0ngyap @fmmniell you can do both. I use Proton and Runbox as backup relays. If you use another provider to send messages, you're subject to their terms and data collection policies every time you send a message.Google is a repeat offender when it comes to this, and routinely scans your messages to deliver you targeted ads.

@l0ngyap @fmmniell don't forget to update your zone records to indicate all relays you intend to use. If you use a personal relay, don't allow all networks. Only allow networks you administer or control. This will prevent your relay from being abused even if your credentials are compromised. Enable filtered firewall rules for ports 993, 995, 465 and 587.
