Speaking of warping reality EsoFaggy, I've mentioned several times that I went back to college to get a degree in something else. You lot were the ones claiming I lied about my Computer Science Bachelors degree.

@GatorTime If you don't mind my asking, do you have a main programming language you prefer?

@TheWanax Java probably. It's what I used the most in coursework, but we also used C++ and Python. On the network side we did do some sql. I fucking hate sql lol.

@GatorTime HahahaI never heard anyone hate sql that much. It's fine for queries, but setting up a postgres db or something like it from scratch is tedious. So I get that.

@TheWanax The class was awful. There was like a full book of errata for every assignment.

@TheWanax If you're just reading stuff or querying it's not so bad. I got really good at regular expressions because of it. But some of those assignments were painful.

I thought the claim was not that you had a degree in Computer Science, but that you claimed you couldn't get a job cos the Pajeets took them all. People laughing cos you were less desirable than a sheet-in-the-street.

@YarnSmith No they started out claiming I was just lying about the degree, because they couldn't believe that I couldn't find a CS job. What I never mentioned was that I was primarily looking for remote work because I didn't want to move to a high rent area like RTP, and all the remote work was being gobbled up by pajeets cause they don't have to pay them as much. I physically could have moved to Fresno, San Antonio or Austin, but fucking why?

That sucks man, if only it had been a few years later - most companies are offering developers at least partial WFH now as they realize it is a free benefit that staff love (and also saving them money on office space). Hope you are enjoying your new job - would you ever consider getting back into a more computer science based role, or prefer to keep it as a hobby?

@YarnSmith Yeah that's one major thing the pandemic changed massively. Tons more remote work. I'd probably keep it a hobby. I love what I'm doing, I make way more money than when I worked for that startup, and have significantly higher job security. A lot more physical work, but hey I need to not be a fucking fatass anyway so I can use the exercise.

I'm glad, there's very few people who can say they are happy in their jobs but it worked out for you, worth all the extra pain to get there. Startups always seem to require massive sacrifice and rarely pay off, same thing happened to my friend - few years of that is enough for anyone. Keeping fit isn't a bad bonus, definitely more health benefits than streaming to a dwindling audience in a Mexican basement.

@YarnSmith I'm just glad that I am in a place where I don't have to do shows 24/7 to avoid freezing in a cabin in the tundra. I can stream for fun and when I feel like doing it.

I think this is part of the problem they have made it a job but can't create content and it becomes this big desperate circle jerk for views.
