I did a simple #EXWM setup over the weekend and decide to use it for real work this week. Any suggestion?

My problem with #EXWM: The keybinding in other GUI apps becomes very confusing. It is unpredictable what goes to Emacs or the GUI app, especially when the GUI app has lots of keybinding, like Intellij IDE, or nesting Emacs inside EXWM.

@whhone Try sway or hyprland. I really liked sway when I was using it with emacs. (Also, check out my rofi-org-todo capture thingy… 😊)

@awws Thanks for the suggestions and introduce me to "hyprland" and your "rofi-org-todo"!I did tried sway (maybe a year before) but there were issues like https://github.com/swaywm/wlroots/issues/1877. I am going back to i3 in the meantime.

@whhone really? I found sway quite free of problems I had on i3. And found the config easier and cleaner… but guess that does highly depend on hardware… My biggest issue ends up being battery life on Linux. Hard to find anything even remotely close to what I get on my macbook. Looking forward to Asahi linux on the ARM64 when it gets as good as I need for a daily driver. 😊

@awws Same here looking for an ARM laptop with great battery life (and fan-less). The new Lenovo ThinkPad X13s (arm-based, fanless) is catching my eyes 🙂

@fascinating_bastard @awws See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture_family. ARM CPU are used widely on mobile devices. It also powers the well-known Raspberry Pi and Apple M1/M2.
