       @stux The story is a bit more complicated than that. The homeowners had cattle grazing on the lawn area due to bad fencing around the house. They’d been  to leaveirrigating the area for weeks before the fire pending fence repair.After they evacuated fire service personnel attended and doused the property before running out of water and had to leave with the wildfire approaching.

       @stux while I'm glad they still have a house, stories like this really worry me that people will think wildfire protection is that simple. Many houses burn because falling cinders set the roof on fire, not from nearby grass. And being from Kansas, their excessive yard watering is almost definitely coming from the overdrawn Ogalalla Aquifer, a slow-moving environmental disaster in progress.
