       For those wanting to try other Fediverse software: I've decided to open up my #Akkoma instance for general use.Akkoma is based on Pleroma, it has many of the same features as Mastodon, with some extra. For example: the max post limit is 5000 characters (default; this can be easily changed by the server admin).You can also quote posts, add emoji reactions etc.Feel free to create an account at https://akkoma.nl

       @apschmidt No, Mastodon doesn't have a setting for post limit.. it can be done only by changing the code, which I won't do.Also Rich Text isn't possible in Mastodon.

       @ruud just curious, is the character limit enforced by the client or the server? For the official mastodon software, it seems like it is enforced by the client only, which indicates that anyone with their own client could set their own limit. I could totally be mistaken, tho…
