       If there is one thing that I'd tell anyone who wants to get into the "making things for the internet" business: have your own little website. No matter which role you want to take on, product or project management, marketing, content, development, operations, anything. Make it, put it on the internet, keep it alive. Once you're doing this, you've learned more or less everything you need to know - it's only a matter of scale now and that's where you can specialize in your role.
