3.5 years ago, we spent around £1k on a Samsung smart washing machine. It has a 10kg load capacity, has load-sensing and distributes liquids according to washing weight, has a split-drum so it washes loads more thoroughly etc etc. Basically, it was all-singing, all-dancing with bells and whistles.Around 18 months after we bought it, we had the drawer pump replaced under warranty because it stopped drawing detergent and softener. The door was also replaced at around the same time as the old one had a tendency to leak. The drawer pump has failed again so I contacted Samsung but they refuse to do anything about it because the washing machine is outside the 2 year warranty period. They kindly pointed out that I could have registered it upon purchase to benefit from an extra 3 years of warranty cover but looking at the link they sent me to confirm, our model of washing machine wasn’t included anyway.Despite the same fault being repaired previously, Samsung absolutely refuse to do anything to help us. I argued that for an amount of money which could also buy me an ok-ish car, a washing machine from such a large electronics company shouldn’t have started failing so soon but still, nothing can be done.I understand minimum consumer standards and that the washing machine is outside of its warranty but am I going to recommend Samsung washing machines or buy another one in the future? Of course not.I now need to decide whether to try and fix the washing machine myself or pay a repair company to come out and fix it, although paying someone else to do it with parts and labour costs really sticks.Avoid Samsung white goods.

@alan I think regardless of warranty goods should be manufactured to exceed the warranty. I would go back to them one more time, it is outrageous

We got suckered into an all-singing #Samsung fridge a few years back. Identical story. It failed a month out of warranty with a fairly simple yet unfixable problem. Samsung is one of the majority of capitalism's companies who sell landfill and profit as the world burns. It does not have to be this way. My grandma's old fridge lasted decades before a weasly scammer exchanged it for bit of landfill.

I’ve had cheap, no-brand washing machines which have lasted for far longer than this one, although in actual fact they’re usually made by a spin-off of an actual washing machine brand.Perhaps going for a company that is better known for it’s electronic devices rather than it’s white goods was the fatal mistake.

@alan @trregeagle Many years ago, I installed burglar alarms and on the circuit board was a timer. After a preset window this would make the system show an error warning " call engineer" followed by a total lockout 2wks later.Allowing the installer to return and service the system. To create a fault. after x many cycles would be simple enough to do.I am not saying samsung would do such a thing.....but.Wouldnt your contract be with the retailer ?
