Update on my EEO case:I searched and found an experienced representative to help me through this final phase. He’s letting me build up my retainer. $3K is very reasonable. The DC top attorney wanted $15K up front!Yeah, no.I sold an MCM credenza for $650, a cappuccino machine for $180, a set of Pottery Barn curtains for $200, and a vintage sweater for $250. G-d blessed me with sales galore!On all these items, I put the price higher than I dared, and Holy Crap, they still sold!

All my buyers have been super nice. The credenza buyers even asked me if I’d found a local church, and invited me to theirs.Nobody’s haggled over prices with me, they just paid up! I’m really grateful.So, my praise report is that I got to my goal of the $1K retainer. $2K more to go, and I have other things that I can sell. The well isn’t dry yet!And, I filed a request for a judge to review my case, naming the gentleman as my representative. The EEOC already confirmed this with him.

Now we begin gathering discovery. I took a lot of time writing my affidavits so the judge could decide the case without ever having a hearing. But, I have no control over how the investigator organized the files.The agency lied to me the entire time, telling me that the investigator makes a recommendation. They do not. They just gather the facts.I suspect they lied to run the clock out again: Once the investigation is over, a request for judge to review must be filed within 30 days.

Just like before, I was waiting for the investigator to contact me—they misinformed me that they did, right after they’d reviewed everything-and, they would give me a decision that I could appeal if I wasn’t happy.Actually, I came within 5 days of having my file closed for failing to file, because I was waiting patiently for a decision! They never sent the case for investigation, they lied and tried to run out the time on me.This is their play, and after 3 times, I recognized it.

Even with this filing, they got slick. I got an email on December 27 with a link to the case files, which were too big to send as a pdf attached to an email.I could access the files and download them but I had that adobe reader issue because they want $39/mo to access their program.I asked the investigator what to do since I couldn’t read the files.She did me a solid and had her office send me my file, hard copy. The box wax 25+ lbs! 4 files of 800+ pages! saving me $100s in copy fees!

I knew I had 30 days to file a request for a judge to review, because I spoke to my representative about it. I wanted to have the retainer paid before I filed, to ensure that he would confirm this with EEO.Once I sent him $600, he told me to file. This was on the 22nd. I needed to include some information that was in the EEO files.When I looked in the primary file, I saw that agency dated the letter they emailed to me as December 21- even though it wasn’t emailed to me until the 27th!

When I filed my request for a judge, I printed out my email from the agency, circling the 27th, and stated that the communication from the agency was 6 days after the date they’d put on their letter. The letter was included in the 800+ files, not sent separately, so I couldn’t have seen it until the email on the 27th was sent.If the judge went by the agency’s letter, they would dismiss because my request was filed on the 22nd!Just more fuckery from these people. I’m so sick of their crap.

But….I’m in there. Now I just have to keep on posting and selling.I’m having some interesting things happen during all of this experience. Some good, some bad, all ….interesting! Like the whole family that is stalking me about the china cabinet I posted.Or the woman who actually had the nerve to ask me if I “would donate my velvet chair to a church, or did I really want the $$ for it?” !!?WHY would a church need a patchwork velvet chair?(Between us, I think it was the Church of Her.)
