I do not need an M2 Pro mini, my M1 Ultra studio is fast enough.I do not need an M2 Pro mini, my M1 Ultra studio is fast enough.I do not need an M2 Pro mini, my M1 Ultra studio is fast enough.I do not need an M2 Pro mini, my M1 Ultra studio is fast enough.I do not need an M2 Pro mini, my M1 Ultra studio is fast enough.

@snazzyq I'm not so sure, Xcode isn't all that great at parallelizing across 20 cores, specially for the very frequent small incremental builds I do.

@paul @snazzyq For many developers, I suspect 96 GB of RAM and M2 Max core count might win out.

@jsnell @gruber @paul @snazzyq Is there any reason for that other than to artificially differentiate the Mac mini from the Mac Studio? Surely if they can fit a Max chip inside a laptop, they have the thermal capacity and volume to fit a Max chip inside the mini. It’s not all that mini compared to a laptop.

@dgriffinjones @jsnell @paul @snazzyq It’s just the definition of the product. Mini ranges from Mx to MxPro. Studio from Mx Max to Mx Ultra. Early run of Max chips go to MBPs.

@gruber @dgriffinjones @paul @snazzyq also I am skeptical about the cooling of a 38-GPU chip in the mini enclosure.

@jsnell @gruber @dgriffinjones @paul @snazzyq It works in the 14" MBP no?You'd think the cooling in a mini should be better than the laptop.

@n8udd @gruber @dgriffinjones @paul @snazzyq I'm not going to make any assumptions about the cooling system of the Mac mini versus the MacBook Pro. You're welcome to. I think Apple designed the Mac Studio specifically for the hotter chips, which is why they sell the hotter chips in the Mac Studio.
