Apparently my job here on #Mastodon is to boost a LOT of posts. And I'm OK with that, really. Most of you seem to like it. 🤷‍♀️But as a periodic reminder for those who might be overwhelmed by it all, you don't have to unfollow or mute me to turn off the firehose.Simply click on my avatar to see my profile and then click on the "..." menu to choose "Hide boosts from donmelton."That's it. That will turn off the spigot but still show posts like this one. Thanks for following! ❤️

@donmelton @shawrd773 Have you found an easy way for me to determine who I have silenced boosts from?Is this an API problem that will need to be solved by third-party apps?#Mastodon

@christopher @shawrd773 Honestly, I have no idea. 🤷‍♀️ And I would love to have that functionality as well.

@christopher @donmelton Same. At the moment I’d have to check people individually.

@shawrd773 @donmelton That's what I had to do, click on everyone and check status. But, this problem will be solved sooner or later... I'm sure the APIs expose the info in a way that's possible for apps to consume it.#mastodon

@christopher @shawrd773 @donmelton I don't see any fix for that in v4.1.0rc1 (I'm running the prerelease on my server)Otoh, I am at least happy to report you'll be able to pull up a list of your *followed hashtags* in the next release.

@oliphant @shawrd773 @donmelton The nice thing is that even if it’s not built into the core #mastodon feature-set, third party developers *should* be able to incorporate such a feature just by programming their app to query the correct APIs and then somehow present it and make it usable to the end user.Really, I see Mastodon’s role as building and maintaining a rich API. Developers will take it and run from there.
