ancap is an okay philosophy in many respects, but it's lopsided because it's foundation is purely rational/intellectual and leaves no room for the greater forces of human motivation, emotion and passion. particularly the passion one feels when there is no means to support one's self or family, and the typically coercive power of the market in such a circumstance. if you want true freedom you can't simply commoditize absolutely everything and call it a day. there needs to be an element of compassion and prosocial ethos that brings property back into balance with need (as opposed to greed). in order to do so in a voluntary fashion requires not law, but culture. ancap is a very self-oriented philosophy in spite of it's reciprocal nature, and thus it misses that element nearly entirely. consequently in spite of violently agreeing with ancaps on most philosophical points, there's really not a single one I've met as yet that I'd actually want as a neighbor.

unless you know of a place where allodial title still exists for ordinary people, then it's rather moot anyway. we can build and demolish a million castles in the sky, but until they can be demonstrated it's just hot air. as for ancap, there have been several attempts to found an ancap community or independent ancap village, etc, and they've pretty much all ended up with massive fraud, in-fighting over money (haves vs have nots) and in the case of berwick's little experiment in mexico, even a gangland murder amidst other drama. aside from individual households of friends who share the same ideology, but still live under the same society/rules as the rest of us, I don't know of an example of an ancap society that's succeeded. even historical iceland with it's medieval ancap style democracy, was eventually subverted by a few families who bought out all the other chieftains of their legal practice, until the egalitarian democracy was centralized and ultimately ceded to norway. the fact that law practice was a commodity, was exactly what caused it to develop into a hierarchy with all the usual hallmarks of injustice that go with it. so, if we're gonna judge the worth of a system based on historical track record, it's not looking that good. looks great on paper though.

I mean "allodial title", ownership of the land with no superior landlord involved. if you know of a way to claim that legally in canada, I'd love to know. I think texas may still have it, but not sure on that.anyway, the truth is that by natural right we all ought to have allodial title to any unoccupied/unused land we choose to settle on. the main purpose of finding a jurisdiction which acknowledges that right, is to avoid having your neighbors (ie. govt/corp agents) show up with guns to remove you.

While you're techinically correct, when a system changes from Common Law to Equity, one of the basic considerations is that nothing can be taken from you without giving you an equivalent remedy of equal or greater value.in this case, Allodial title remedy was buried and renamed, but never removed completely. I think that this kind of stuff is a missing ingredient in the libertarian/anarchist toolkit. you could probably make a mint if you came out with a step by step guide for stuff like owning land independent of the state, renouncing your citizenship and claiming the equity owed to you by inter/national banks. along with the trade-offs being made in terms of costs and rights/responsibilities/remedies as a citizen vs not. especially given it's something you have direct experience with.that's one thing that irks me about the whole "sovereign citizen" or "freeman on the land" movement. I agree with them in principal, but the legal basis of their ideas is half-baked nonsense that no judge will take seriously. the only reason they usually get off is because it's over stuff so trivial the court sees it as an utter waste of time to pursue. if there were a manual on how to do this in an up-to-date and legally authoritative way, that'd be awesome. if it has anecdotes or interviews with people who've already done it, all the better.
