       I was actually excited for Forspoken when the initial pitch came out.  Isekai'd city girl given OP powers that are all flash and speed and thrown in a foreign world she runs around raining fire and lightening down on.  Then the first beta gameplay was shown and it was all brown and bloom.  Enemies were sparse and avoidable.  Dialogue was nonstop and insufferable.  They took a fun concept and fucked it into the dirt with terrible game design and it looks like the reviews show that to still be true.  Now every time I see the main character from Forspoken I can picture her living in a Bronx apartment with Donte from DmC as the ultimate hipster couple of gaming.

       The real shame is it could have been a better isekai game.  The framework was there, the design decisions and world building were what kneecapped it.  Why the game looks so barren, the enemies so sparse, the dialogue so terrible I'll never know.  I get the weirdest feeling that when this was initially drawn up they had some cool ideas but somewhere along the way the wrong people were allowed to give input and sunk it.
