I tried #HaikuOS this weekend, and it certainly looks promising. It has a distinct retro feel to it, but it can run modern applications (like WebKit browsers). What is rare for an open source OS is that everything from kernel to GUI is included. Oh, and one of the bundled apps is an IRC client!https://www.haiku-os.org/

@bart After I read "In the Beginning was the Command Line" a couple of years ago, I became curious in Haiku OS. I tried R1/Beta 2 on two machines, both failed to booth. But R1/Beta 3 arrived, it worked on both machines. I have only tested as live-USB. Now with Beta 4 I suppose it's even better. It is definitely in my wish list to one day install Haiku and try it more. My short report from test of Beta 3: https://www.hemrin.com/business-blog/329-exploring-haiku-os-part-1 #HaikuOS
