I just sort of assume as with Twitter that all the working class folks at Alphabet are contracted out to Accenture etc so the only actual employees who get laid off were all rich people anyway

@ryan I'm assuming you mean working class in the modern vernacular way. The Marxist analysis would put tech workers in the working class - sell labor to live, don't own the means of production.I also know a bunch of people who make under 50k/yr who were laid off. Like all the FTE massage techs, and a bunch of FTE data center workers. Probably to be replaced with TVCs in many cases.

@biasbe @smolwaffle yeah, poor google engineers with their.. *checks notes*.. $250000 salaries with bonuses and stock options.But more seriously, executives and shareholders didn't turn the internet into a dystopian hellhole. Executives and shareholders didn't invent new methods of tracking users or breaking compatibility with existing standards. So again, no sympathy and no pity for those poor google engineers that have been laid off.
