       A true story about America’s dire healthcare crisis. Preface: my husband works for his best friend of 40 years as the problem solver, put out fires, do whatever is needed VP.        🧵4. Patient that 25 mg Adderall is rumored to be in stock. Luckily, I found it for $75. After 2 days of research, I found Amazon Prime Pharmacy has the rest of our meds at much lower prices than retail pharmacies. However, it’s taking them a long time to verify my scripts, so I haven’t had my asthma meds for a week. No bueno. Fractured my ankle 2.5 months ago. Can’t afford to go to Physical Therapy.        🧵2. We used to pay $50. Price my generic asthma medicine, Wixela, at $186/month. We can’t pick up the meds and don’t understand the expense. Finally, I reach a human at the insurance company. After researching, she discovers our insurance plan changed as of 1/1. We now have $5000 individual deductibles, a $10,000 family deductible, and AFTER we meet those we have a 30% copay. WTH?        🧵3.  a $150,000/ month medication so the insurance co. Increased the premium. Of course, we don’t want anyone to be without a necessary med, and we are worried about employees who earn much less & have multiple children. The owner is sick about it. He knows our son absolutely needs his Vyvanse to function so he paid for it🙏🏻❤️. My doc switched me to Concerta, even though I don’t do as well on it, due to the Adderall shortage. Guess what?        🧵5. my functional med Dr to resolve as my primary care doc missed it. Can’t afford to go. I realize we are lucky compared to much of America. My point is that we are considered middle to upper middle class and we can’t afford critical healthcare. And unless you’ve lived with ADHD don’t ever criticize someone with it for needing medication.
