@Taweret The English Patient, I hate it with a passion. I don't know of it's still popular, but I never understood why people liked it. It's awful.

@Taweret as for Forrest Gump, I think the reason it won so many awards was that it played on older generations' nostalgia for the '60s and '70s, am I wrong??

@calculsoberic @Taweret I don’t think that’s the only reason but it sure helped a lot. But also:-Tom Hanks, hot off of A League of their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, and Philadelphia-extremely, extremely quotable; up there with Seinfeld for 90s proto-memeability-the digital special effects (which barely merit a mention now) were *really* impressive in 1994
