I think things as borders and countries are a thing of the past, isn't it kinda weird that on the one side of an imaginary line a certain set of rules(laws) are set and a few meters further something completly else. Not everywhere ofc but in many cases yesAnother thing I find weird is that other hoomans can tell me where I can and cannot go on this planet.. People forbid other people from moving where they want while we are all the same spieces with the same rights

I know it's a blurry line with many many other elements playing a role and I'm a big dreamer But I do wanna speak out about this.I hope that in some point in the future we just have one 'United Nations' chosen by the people and the countries are provinces are somethingMake the Earth more fair for everyone and stop claiming stuff for your own SHARE!

@stux I find it odd that jobs can move from country to country in search of cheap labor, but workers are not able to move to find jobs.

@stux The direct consequence of superiority complex.whether its the US, Europe, Asia - they all share the dame narrative. The neighbor wishing to enter, is somehow 'less-than'..Can only take, has nothing to give..will interrupt local 'purity'And the society as a whole, absolutely resists being educated out of the cancer.it has always cost lives.

@stux There was a time not so long ago, I just wanted to live in one city in one country. I found the city exciting, thrilling, fun, and different. The people were warm and authentic. I managed to live there for almost two years and I found myself falling in love with the city. Yet the rules were definitive. The limits spelled out in visa and immigration laws. So I left that place and went to other places. I've found a place now which is close and I call home. I just accepted that.

@stux I think you’ve got the cause and effect backwards. If we can evolve a little more as humans to truly embrace our common wellbeing, and the fully democratic systems we’d need to sustain it, then one day we could be strong enough to have a world without nations.

@stux I think borders, whether or not physical, are always going to exist. On a large scale, and on a small scale. Whether human or animal, there is always need for personal space or own territory. In which you feel safe and comfortable. That principle scales up to household or pack, neighbourhood and so on. Just like you don’t want a complete stranger to come into your bedroom without permission, countries want you to knock on the door and introduce yourself before they invite you over.

@stux Agree in principle, but will not happen without another major war to convince major countries to stop. UN with Russia, China and US having veto is worthless, but then again a world body without them will not stop wars and aggression. One more war and the survivors can figure.

@stux It's not encouraging that highly allied European states still can't manage that. The European Parliament is weak, and its members elected with little turnout because it doesn't coincide with national elections. The EC which wields the real power isn't elected at all.

I am gonna have to disagree with you here. A one world government sounds like something that could greatly expand powers for a precious few in a way that’s not very democratic at all. I don’t think a small group should be able to set the rules for everyone on the planet!Plus, I’d have trouble believing that an even bigger government would care about, say, the needs of the nations in #Africa.

@realcaseyrollins @stux I like John Lennon’s imagination. But to me, no countries means no governments. We all have free will anyway, so “rule” is impossible, unless people allow it. Warlords will take over? They already have. They wear badges and run for office.

A continuous competition of ideas and continuous decentralization of power is what keeps civilization from both stagnating and from becoming irreversibly corrupted. Having multiple countries/nations provides fosters optimum management of human civilization.

@stux on the other hand, I doubt you’d like it if I just showed up one day to live under your bed. And if I did, I imagine you may have house rules that I don’t want to follow. Nation-states and their different laws are basically private property rights in the large. The problem such feel-good, big-happy-family rhetoric is that we are a deeply dysfunctional family. Boundaries are very important for personal well-being just like borders are necessary for civic well-being.

@stux I doubt we're anywhere close to being able to live under a world government (and any such government would need to be sensitive to a huge variety of cultures, traditions, etc.), but it would be nice to see more opportunities for connection between people in the real world like the free and open communities we can have online.
