I haven’t been able to make much progress healing my plantar fasciitis because I’ve been working on my feet every day since Christmas. I’m happy to have the work. I rewarded myself last night and being hungover today is the only thing keeping me off my feet. Pain in my head today but none in my foot!

@GMOdysseys @ecardwell Is this the first time this has happened? I broke my heel 8 years ago and dealt with it the first time after recovery. It has popped up a few times since.

@TheBigLoder First time. At first I thought it was just a heel bruise from running. I had experienced a lot of heel bruises growing up skateboarding. After a couple days, it dawned on me that it was probably plantar fasciitis. I had learned in massage school that people who sleep on their stomachs with their toes pointed down often develop this ailment. So many people on NAS have given me so much helpful advice and it has helped when I have taken the time to follow it.

@GMOdysseys I skateboarded as well growing up. And tended to run on my toes in soccer. Ended up with very tight calves and needed rolfing (most painful thing I had experienced at that point in my life).Having gone through it 3 or 4 times now, I feel your pain. In my experience, as an avid cyclist, it tends to pop up when I am not keeping up with my stretching routines. I also use a Theragun and try to hit it every night while watching TV. Find that point that hurts and work it out.

@macspace Some of my friends my age and younger have gout already and it sounds more painful than what I am experiencing. My foot mostly bothers me when I stop moving and it tightens up. That first trip to the bathroom in the morning on the cold floor is the worst part.

@macspace In general, I’ve experienced a lot of inflammation in the fascia in many other parts of my body, possibly auto-immune related and my foot pain is right where the plantar fascia attaches to the heel bone, so I’m relatively confident that it’s not gout.

@TheBigLoder @GMOdysseys sorry for the sidebar but I also broke my heel when I was 22 and I have never met anyone else who broke a heel or even heard of it happening to anyone. It does not seem common.

@HardCordelia @GMOdysseys Most commonly happens from car wrecks....second most common, I fell off a ladder with a backpack blower on.I broke along the subtalar joint so lost some side to side movement. You got a foot full of titanium like me?

@TheBigLoder @GMOdysseys it was a scooter accident. Vespa style metal scooter and the whole thing fell on my foot. I was young a dumb and didn’t have medical insurance and I guess it wasn’t that bad of a break (crushed from side impact and not top-down) so I just crutched around until I felt like I could walk again. It was painful as hell and definitely healed weird. When I finally showed it to a doctor it was way too late to do anything except confirm the break.

@HardCordelia @GMOdysseys Oh wow! Any long term issues?I on the other hand ended up with surgery, tons of titanium, 5 months off my foot (while my wife was pregnant with our first child so that was funnnnn), and my only experience with oxycontin. Gave me a whole new perspective on life and being grateful, but it was a long journey.

@Andrew_Hoffman @GMOdysseysI concur. I think we humans are connected to the earth, and I think our systems require necessary recharging by being exposed to nature, as well as connecting through barefooted contact with the ground.😎 (i'm Dblohangel and i approve this message. 🤗)

@TheBigLoder @GMOdysseys holy shit, that is a lot to get through! I always wonder about the long term implications of titanium in the body. My husband has a lot of it too. My heel is very wide and little strange looking. I think I made a lot of new bone when I was healing. And I can feel when the weather changes in my foot now. It tends to roll inward so it’s have to be careful about sprains.
