The big problem with #Mastodon's News feature is it doesn't tell you who's talking about the article and how to engage with that conversation on #Mastodon itself. It just points me to a different website.

@realcaseyrollins it doesnt work on my instance and i have no idea how to make it work. it would be better if these get tagged with their respective hashtags, and not have a separate news section.

@sam I think it has to catch multiple people posting the same link? I also am not sure.I also think by default news or news sites have to be whitelisted by the admin but I heard that feature might be optional now

@realcaseyrollins Well lemmy posts federate with masto but the the other way around (for posts not comments/replies) because the "title" attribute is missing from masto's ap format.
