It seems the most recent Star Wars show, Andor, has attracted SJW-type outsiders who are now bent out of shape that anyone could be fan of the empire and that if they are - they are not so secretly real life fascists. *deep sigh*

@GalacticTurtle TRAs have ruined Star Trek. Discovery has a trans character. It's horrible. I'm sorry it's happening to something that used to make you happy.

@Gelatinousrube @GalacticTurtle They talk about their feelings way too much on that show and I'm one of those people who usually thinks talking about feelings is a good thing and can add depth to the story.

@GCatheist @GalacticTurtle For me there was something sterile about the scripts. Going way back it's corny as hell but I loved TNG and their weird Sherlock shit and Data and his kitten. Discovery is like aliens wrote it who observed humans for six months

@GCatheist @GalacticTurtle It's hard to explain but I like shows about people who are filtering their feelings through and together with their weird activities and interests. Feels more realistic to me. Like the Detectorists are the perfect example of this

@Gelatinousrube @GCatheist @GalacticTurtle I loved TNG. Positive world view, humorous, imaginative.

@Spring @GCatheist @GalacticTurtle @Gelatinousrube "A Fistful of Datas" had me laughing out loud when I first watched it, still love that episode to this day. There is no way in hell Discovery or Strange New Worlds could or would do anything close to that.

@arsebiscuit @GCatheist @GalacticTurtle @Gelatinousrube No they wouldn’t. I only watched a few episodes of Discovery. It was too dark for me and I didn’t like the violence at all. Wasn’t what I look for in Star Trek. The lightness and humour is the thing. Not especially humorous ones but Yesterday’s Enterprise and the one where Data makes a daughter are two of my favourites.

@Spring @arsebiscuit @GCatheist @GalacticTurtle @Gelatinousrube Dark is fashionable now. They even managed to make Archie comics Gothic and depressing.

@arsebiscuit @Spring @GalacticTurtle @Gelatinousrube I like Strange New Worlds but they killed off one of the most interesting characters in the first season.

@Gelatinousrube @GCatheist @GalacticTurtle Yep, it was great they had a gay couple & first series was ok but then they ruined it. Shit storylines & their lesbian couple had to be a he and a they them - so progressive 🙄 I loved TNG but DS9 is my favourite & when they did a lesbian couple (Dax storyline) no one even mentioned it - which is exactly how it would be in future, no one would give a damn about feckin' pronouns or what sex couples are.
