@r000t Did they delete this or is it private? Google shows cached fragments of it but the search result itself no longer points at anything.

@r000t Do I understand it correctly that this would mean I can make another server delete a post by one of their users, if the post was a reply to a post of mine?If so, that's stupid and nobody should implement it. My server should not delete any of my posts unless it breaks the rules of my server. What does make sense IMO is being able to control what my server will return when a user or another server asks for the list of replies to my post. This makes sense insofar a post and its replies are seen as a "thread" and the OP is the "owner" of the thread.Example:1. Alice @ friendly.server posts: "Hey all, do you have any opinions on topic X?"2. Bob @ angry.server replies: "You're a poopie-head!"3. Alice sees the reply on her Fedi client, and clicks on a "Reject reply" button4. The "Reject reply" command is sent to friendly.serverNow several things will happen for different people:- Chris @ friendly.server clicks on Alice's post, which he sees because he follows her, or because it's in the local timeline, or because he visited Alice's profile, or because someone linked to it. Chris's client receives the list of replies from friendly.server. The list doesn't include Bob's reply.- If Chris were to be following Bob, Bob's post would still appear on the timeline. Alternatively, Chris could visit Bob's profile and see the post there. Clicking on Bob's post would reveal Alice's thread, but a notification would appear on Chris's client saying that Bob's reply was rejected (because it doesn't appear in the replies list), and Bob's reply would be shown in a special way.- Donna @ other.server clicks on Alice's post, which she sees because she follows her, or because she visited Alice's profile, or because someone linked to it. Donna's client asks other.server for the list of replies to Alice's post, which other.server fetches from friendly.server, or serves it from the cache. Depending on cache freshness, Bob's reply may or may not appear.- If Donna were to be following Bob, or visits Bob's profile, she could see the post. This is the same situation as for Chris, just with the added complication of caching of the reply list on other.server.- For Emil @ angry.server, the situation is exactly as for Donna, with the sole difference that an additional way of seeing and opening Bob's post is the local timeline.Wow that was long, why the fuck did I even write that. Maybe these ideas will be useful one day if I write or work on a fedi server. :blobcatgooglytrash:
