I've met so many interesting people & my mental health is so much better than on #Twitter!Here's how I made my experience on Mastodon great:1) Follow people who engage, are kind & classy2) Respond to people's posts. Don't just blast your content & ignore. 3) Block mercilessly. Don't bother engaging with trolls.4) Follow happy hashtags like #catsofmastodon and #Bookstodon

       @dbsalkI have seen trolls, but I have been on Fediverse since 2019 and I am currently setting up a server, so I have had more time and more exposure to see them. Recently I had to deal with the admin of a server (namely detroitriotcity <dot> com) that I had restricted from showing on my federated timeline. Since I had several (at the time unconfirmed but now clearly correct) reports from elsewhere of people on that server engaging in harassment, I decided to write that I would suspend it if needed. The admin of that server responded with what is perhaps the most childish, juvenile response I have seen yet, trying to goad me into blocking the instance by being as offensive as possible. I've blocked him and his instance personally, but I am going to wait until just before I invite other users here to actually suspend his instance, because I want to delay his satisfaction at being blocked as long as possible. He's a troll after all, and clearly gets his rise out of people reacting to him.@liztai

       @liztai I love this place. It’s not a replacement to #Twitter because it seems so *different* that I just don’t want to use the bird site at all!
