Right! If we can’t get the StyleWriter working in OS X then time to try something else. How about this portable HP DeskWriter! It has LocalTalk built in, but will there be functioning cups thingies for it? #RetroComputing 🖨️

Also, the shape of this thing. It’s ridiculous. I love it. It folds down to a boring rectangle, but opens up to an L shape sitting at 45° to the ground.

When I say set up already, that’s not quite accurate. Apparently it wants to print magenta-only as though that were black. Oops.

It just dawned on me why this looked like more than just a typical magenta separation! It’s because this DeskWriter printer only does CMY with no K. It simulates black by blasting all three colours as hard as it can. So any one of the colours on its own is going to look much more full than I’d typically be used to. 🖨️

Oh, this is beautifully cursed! The paper got a bit stuck for a while, but not badly enough for the printer to think it had jammed. So there’s a thick CMY slab in the middle of the page :D

Cyan and yellow can’t seem to decide if they want to work or not. The unpredictability of every printout is kind of great :D 🖨️
