YouTube is out of control with ads. I hit play on a video and it ran a 15-second ad. It then played—I’m not making this up—5 seconds of the video and then interrupted the speaker in mid-sentence to play another two 7-second ads. I watched 2 minutes of the video, decided I didn’t like it and played another. YouTube ran two 7-second ads first. That’s 43 seconds of ads in 2 minutes. It’s getting as bad as commercial TV.But the ads are ineffective. I mute the audio and look away from the screen.

@TWSheppard There are two solutions for that:1. https://www.youtube.com/premium2. https://ublockorigin.com/And for the ads added by the content creators there is https://sponsor.ajay.app/ uBlock origin and SponsorBlock sadly only work in the browser, so I'm paying for YouTube Premium to get rid of the ads on the TV/Projector and in the YouTube app.

Then I paused the second video after a few seconds to write up my previous post, and when I resumed, YouTube ran another two 7-second ads. So now it’s 57 seconds of ads in two minutes of video.

@jeena Premium is way too expensive for the number of videos I watch. It was nice when I had a free trial.I don’t get ads in Chrome running uBlock Origin but I do on the Nvidia Shield, Roku, and Apple TV boxes, and Samsung TV even though I’m running Pi-hole for the whole house.I don’t mind a few ads, but tonight was ridiculous. I may have to investigate why Pi-hole isn’t blocking the ads.
