So, who has an opinion on LG washers and dryers? They are allegedly the highest rated units for quality.

@GettingCooked my wife loves hers. Much better than the Samsung ones she had last. She does get frustrated that the TrueBalance feature on the washer can cause it to take a lot longer to wash than it says it will at start. It’s really only obvious offenders like large blankets, etc., not everyday things.

@GettingCooked I have an LG TV I'm pleased with. I won't buy another Samsung (other than phone). We've had a Samsung range go bad quickly and the Samsung fridge doesn't work like it should after about 3 years.

@GettingCooked LG makes some really solid washers and dryers. I worked for a major home improvement retailer and ran their appliance division. LG was our top brand. Only issue is their service network can be a little spotty in certain areas. Another brand to look at is Speed Queen. SQ is going to be pretty expensive but they are the best laundry brand sold in the US. Outstanding quality but very pricey. Speed Queen or LG would be my recommendation for a new laundry set though.

@dixoncox623 And what about gas vs. electric? Thoughts?

@GettingCooked Anything LG should go straight to the landfill.

@GettingCooked if you have both options, I would prefer gas as it seems to heat more evenly. I have always felt like electric dryers do not do as good a job, but that is more anecdotal rather than having hard evidence.

@GettingCooked when we were replacing our Whirlpool Duet we had 2 washers in mind, LG and Electrolux. There was a lady looking at those 2 also with a giant notebook of notes on them. She and us went with Electrolux and they've been great. 3 reasons, not connected to the internet, Tide Pod ready and it takes the detergent into a mixing box before sending it to the laundry.

@dixoncox623 I saw a few videos suggesting gas are more cost effective as they heat up quicker and require less time to dry.

@SuperDave We did see some Electrolux models at an independent store. The one thing I like about the wash tower is the centralized control panel vs the panel for the dryer way up top. But, then again, it's for a rental unit, what do I care?

@GettingCooked We’ve only had our washer for a couple of years but so far so good. The dryer we bought, with two pedestals, used because the washer in the former owners set failed. It was a few years old. So there’s that.
