Why do people waste money on fabric conditioners?I love it, for example, when the towels dry and become stiff as boards. When I then use the towels, it is like getting an all-over scratch. I can repeat the effect by drying the towel on the Aga rail. It's great. The human race is becoming too soft. 😃

@fitheach I prefer soft towels but still the time, energy, and money that people waste on "fabric softeners" is insane. We've been convinced to buy so many completely useless things, and totally forgotten that life goes on just fine without them. #xp

@fitheach Shouldn't use fabric conditioner on towels anyway as it affect absorbency. For absorbent but soft towels they need a tumble dryer.

@pieceofthepie I don't have a tumble drier, didn't know this.Adverts invariably show women with towels, when they are promoting fabric conditioners, as my second post illustrates.@Wild_Heather_860

@fitheach @pieceofthepie The tumble drier is another example of a thing you really don't need, but people have forgotten that you can pretty easily live without one.

@Wild_Heather_860 @pieceofthepie Oops, I spelled it as drier, by mistake. 😃 My washing goes outside on dry days, and next to the range cooker on wet days.

@fitheach It will ruin your washing machine, never use it.There's a technician on YouTube who pulls old washing machines open and the mess that softener causes is unbelievable. His advice is to never use it.
