@art the same goes when copying from Excel and pasting elsewhere. Shame on you, Microsoft!

@art This! This! This! I tried to set it to default on word and scrivener and they both ignored me. Outside of the ocassional case, who in the world wants text formatted differently then the thing they're pasting into??

@art One thing that really frustrates the heck out of me is Confluence seems to break SHIFT+CTRL+V to paste as plain-text.Instead, I have to right-click and then choose paste as plain-text. Something about its editor hijacks that keyboard shortcut.

@rabbigabriel@social.oxgoad.pagYou can. Pasting works as expected INTO word. It's almost like Microsoft is doing on purpose to keep you in their app.

@sazk That's a good question. I'll test when I get to my Windows 10 VM.

@art Ran into this today copying text from Discord into TextEdit. Why would I ever want to copy the entirely presentational Discord background color??? I think it's just 'cause it's Chromium's native copy function. There should be a #CSS property that tells the browser not to include formatting information from an element when copying...

@art Posts like this, and the ensuing discussion, is how I know I’ve been using Linux for (far) too long. When I need plaintext copy-paste, I just select + middle-click. When I need rich text copy-paste, I use the regular C-C, C-V. 🤷♂️In fact, what’s suggested in the picture would be detrimental to my workflow, muscle-memory, and capabilities, so I hope the Linux desktop doesn’t jump on this bandwagon.
