       @kairyssdal I think #mccarthy would actually be in a stronger position had he not sold the farm to the extremists.  He just looks weak now, and seems to be hanging on for the bigger pension or office at this point.

       @kairyssdal I assume McCarthy is promising the holdouts all manner of sweet committee assignments and special pork bills to get a vote.  Anyone with a brain who already voted for McCarthy is going to vote for someone else next time so they can get in on the gravy train to switch their vote back.  Why should the contrarians get all the McCarthy love?

       @kairyssdal The Ds choose a moderate R they can live with and get a half dozen Rs to vote with them to elect that person. The Ds remain united in this and thereby show who the truly functional party in Congress is.
