       @smartfilming @Gargron It needs encryption. I use #Matrix as an alternative to #Mastodon for private messages (although people can still send me messages though).

       @darnell I suppose Signal could also be a viable option if you don't have to share your phone number for that. Apparently Signal is working on a username feature that would help with that. How does Matrix work? Heard a bit about it but haven't really looked into it.

       @smartfilming Yeah, I do not use or recommend #Signal due to their phone number policy. It’s the same for #WhatsApp too. I use #Telegram (turn encryption on folks!) & #Matrix, neither who require me to share my phone number to the public.
