@cattailnu He hadn't been so sure about anything in his entire life. This was the best thing he could do. He would no longer be a problem. The glow was unearthly, that still, tropical night. Standing on the makeshift landing stage,after rowing across the bay, he looked at his small, poor home. How many memories brooded behind that door. The lamp he had left alight against his return still disrupted the shadows of the porch, but the shadows within were gathering softly. He felt their welcoming dread. With a last glance at the sky, his resolve stiffened. Once more, to face his past; once more to enter the silent stillness of his soul, deeper than the ocean that spread before him.

I'm completely blanking on any good story ideas at the moment, but this looks like it has some sort of angry Tiki God/Hoodoo vibes to it. Something about the night setting and the black and white pencil drawing. If it were colorful it would be totally different - during a daytime setting it would be bucolic. Someone take the image and colorize it using stable diffusion.

The aliens arrived at precisely 11:03 pm, if you happened to be in the time zone where it was 11:03 pm. Their ship entered the atmosphere with an overly-bright white light that made the moon look tiny by comparison, even though given their respective distances, the moon was still quite a bit larger. This didn't matter, because the tide still hadn't gone out enough for Ned to escape the dock and walk to shore. He thought someone else should greet them anyway.
