I think the funniest thing about my time here is that all of the people who dislike me are going to be exactly the same as they are when I leave unless something drastic happens like they try diddling kids. gear’s a good example of this. he’ll still be in his 30s living with his parents and spending all his money on his manchild hobbies. everyone on his instance will still act like 4chan spergs stuck mentally in 2014 4chan. nothing will change, they’ll all continue on with being losers, just like everyone else who’s malded at me for wanting to be better than I was.

I’m not counting on any of the instances I have alts on to be back up if I leave for like a year or two. I know the nature of the beast all to too well. I had a domain set up and was getting ready to set mine up before I was given a surprise. I think it’s for the better that it never got off the ground. It’s for the best that it didn’t, even if it were just a single user instance. I got a year of nitro gifted to me by ophidian, but even that’s something I don’t see going any further. there’s not going to be any more TTRPGs with friends or drafting my MtG cubes. none of that kind of fun stuff. not forever, no, but it’s going to be a while. my friends IRL have been on my ass to leave it all behind.

I’m stricken by this melancholy, this somber feeling of having to leave so much behind in order to do what’s needed for a better life. not just for me, but my daughter. I’m not sympathy baiting or anything, but these ideas are in my head and I want to let them out for the sake of catharsis.

I put all of my fishing rods and guns away. I took down all of my trophies that I killed because I don’t like the idea of a kid seeing them. I put all of my wife’s figures away, much to her dismay. I even put those plastic things in all of the sockets and taped down cords that I couldn’t hide. I secured all of the reptile enclosures and moved the litter box to an area far from where baby phoenix will be allowed to roam.

Thanks, I’m hoping that someday she’ll have one on the wall. I want to teach her how to do things like hunt and fish so she can survive on her own if anything ever happened to me. My read for the trophies is that I don’t want her to be afraid of them because my uncle on my mom’s side of the family had a trophy of a boar he killed and it used to terrify my sister.

@Sir_Ivissia yeah, thanks for the welcome advice. there's going to be a lot of bumps and bruises because her old man fell on his ass a lot as a toddler and it may be genetic. I don't want to be overprotective or overbearing, but it feels like there's a lot of things out there to worry me at least a little.

You'll be fine. Seriously. Kids are a joy, even when they're a pain in the ass and you're on minus sleep. Enjoy her. The worries though ... I asked my Dad when it eases off and he said "I'll tell you when it happens." I was 32, my sister 30. That was not terribly encouraging. 😂

@PhoenixWaifu we’re targeting crappie. there’s a school of them, like 53-67 that we counted roaming the bullrushes. if we get some before the fishery guys show up to dump mud cats we can have them fried up and eaten before noon.
