"At first, it was just some sort of lifeboat to stay in touch with as many Twitter contacts as possible in case things go south too quickly with Twitter. Soon, I found out that I really love Mastodon for many reasons. And that made me think of the state of social media and of the internet in general....using it really gave me late 1990s, and early 2000s vibes. You know, back when the internet was not owned by billionaires and giant companies." https://www.liminalweb.site/social-media-chaos-and-the-future-of-the-internet/

@tchambers It's interesting to see lots of bloggers and journalists now want to bring the internet back to its roots and are experimenting with Mastodon and Fediverse. Will 2023 bring back the blogs?

@jsamwrites @tchambers Well there are a good few blogging platforms that federate, so at least there is no need to re-invent the wheel. @writeas_dev being one.

@zleap @tchambers @writeas_dev Good to see blogging platforms supporting ActivityPub/Federation. Thanks for the suggestion. The past few years have seen numerous walled gardens, but seeing an introduction on @write_as like "Friends and family can read your words without creating yet another account online." makes me happy.
