@Stellar You'll have to root out about five centuries of Euro-centric gratuity culture to make that work... and the service workers are likely to be the most unhappy, especially in places where they receive tips in addition to fair wages.Moreso I think the focus should be on ensuring tipped employees are paid a livable wage BEFORE tips, and outlawing deducting tips from payroll. Tip pooling will also need to be regulated heavily.

@Stellar Bear in mind many US tipped employees earn between $2-$4 an hour. Less than hurting the restaurant, not tipping hurts the employees who are being exploited by their employer. Not eating at the restaurant at all would be the move.

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be works globally if you specifically request "tap water from a faucet" for your drink. If they try to push paid water on you, just say you had a root canal.

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be it helps globally, because it'll reduce the subtotal in America, which reduces the tip. It helps in Europe because it reduces the bill, obviously no tip to reduce.

@KOSMOS@erisly.social exept thats not a thing in europe, you get a jar of fresh water and unlimited tap water refills without asking. exept when they hear you speak incorrect french, then you're a tourist and deserve to get the biggest bill possible

@Stellar If you wanna be maximally helpful, tip them in cash. It makes it easier for the tipped worker to avoid reporting the tip to their employer and thus avoid the payroll hit.
