       @brosandprose I try to just boost and only reply if I have something useful to add. I think it's old habits from Twitter when any reply would boost a post In the algorithm but that doesn't work here

       @brosandprose Hmm...since the people we see on the platform are the people we choose to follow, then isn't the racial and gender balance a function of who we follow? I have been very purposeful in following a diverse group (albeit skewing politically to the left).

       @brosandprose on many posts, seriousness is not required and for them, we should just toot to our goofy hearted content.  on subjects you describe, i totally agree.  i also find it very annoying that when women pour their hearts out men feel the need to qualify.  excuse me?

       @brosandprose If I might be so bold as to suggest…. Valid comments, but I think perhaps a different instance might help in generating the needs your looking for. You might want to look around and find somewhere more comfortable, there’s all sorts of local environments out there… good luck!

       @brosandprose I haven't been on mastodon long myself, but I've already reconnected with many intersectional blogosphere friends who were perhaps often deprioritised by the birdsite algorithm.I suggest when you see someone interesting look at who they follow and who follows them, see if there are people you already know or whose profile hashtags align with your interests.They don't have to be on the same instance as you - they'll still show up in your personal timeline.
