@clive Having worked in an ER myself, this is correct. Especially during the time when many refused to wear helmets.

@clive I am pretty sure everyone who works in an ER calls them that.I once heard that when you buy a motorcycle your life expectancy immediately drops to six months, then steadily grows as you gain experience. I imagine how mature and none testosterone-filled you are and how much training you get makes a big difference, though. I rode 20k miles over the span of a decade with only very minor mishaps, but I didn't get a motorcycle as a penis substitute as the vast majority do.

@clive I worked in a hospital during HS. Part of my job was taking "patients" to the morgue. The worst cases, however, were the ones who lived. Some were still there when my year was over. I’ll never ride a #motorcycle or let my kids do it. #donorcycles

Yes but I take every precaution I can to ensure I don't. I have been in two four wheeled vehicles that were hit by a 18 wheeler. @AnokheeTara @freakazoid That seems like a totally reasonable approachI'm an urban cyclist in NYC -- I too have to be super careful when I ride (which is nearly daily) ... there are a lot of ways to get injured if I'm not vigilant

@JenWojcik @clive And even when they survive......was in an ER waiting room once when a doctor came in to tell a rider's family--parents, siblings, fiancee--that he would live but that he had no face left. No face. This was his second accident and he had still refused to wear a helmet after the first. No face.

@clive @adamburck I ride whenever I can just to keep my skills up. You never know when rain is going to hit. My limits are ice on the road, temperatures below 34 Deg F if there is any kind of wetness on the road. @clive every time we see riders in little protective gear (flip flops , shorts, t shirts! ) we say “I hope at least they’ll donate their corneas…”Where we live has an opt- in rather than opt-out donor system. So people who desperately need organs don’t even get those.
