@selea I was once paid to install Gentoo and run through Linux From Scratch. The valuable lesson that teenaged me in 2009 learned is that I don't understand people who do those things for fun, but all power to them! 😂

@selea I ran Gentoo on an already ancient Compaq around 2012. I don't remember which processor it had, but it was IA-32 only.

@anders @selea As an Amiga user, Enlightenment was about as cool as it got outside of Commodore hardware. Well, perhaps with the exception of BeOS. That was next level for the time. :)

@selea @anders To be fair; you did back then too. Good luck getting ppp going in NetBSD without any other access to the Internet and missing packages on the cd 😅 wasted a loooot of time there.

@seleaI once set up Gentoo on my Laptop and manually configured+compiled the kernel while being drunk as fuck and hyperfocussed because ADHD. Got it on the first try including Wifi (which was necessary to get running because without it no internet means no packages to install/fix things). That was on a 1,6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Not sure if that one counts. 😅

@selea it was the only way to get drivers working on Debian 1.3 :ablobcatheart: and for a while after that. People don't know that kernel modules weren't always a thing :drake_like:
