Well this has come to a head. In order to protest AI image generators stealing artists work to train AI models, the artists are deliberately generating AI art based on the IP of corporations that are most sensitive to protecting it.Who knew the first AI battles would be fought by artists?Alt text: pictures contain images of AI generated images of Disney, Nintendo, DC, and Marvel characters.

@selzero Saw someone suggesting this a couple of days back. The execution of this is brilliant too - the T-shirt remark shut down a bunch of bots grabbing works from artists w/o compensation a couple of years back if I remember correctly! @selzero That the rendering is infringement on Disney/s IP rights.People have lost quite obvious "fair use" cases against Disney, probably the strongest iron fist enforcer of IP out there. And IF Disney would lose in court, they will get Congress to change the laws, just like they have done several times before.

@selzero @niclas best case scenario for disney's jew lawyers and these seething artists? AI gets marginally harder to access by people with weak computer skills, the whole thing gets a shit ton of publicity, and people spread the knowledge of how to torrent the AI software and models.

@selzero You own the product of yourself taking a pencil, a paintbrush, or Adobe Photoshop to a piece of paper. Stable Diffusion is just a newer kind of tool.Of course, none of these people care. The Tumblr people are doing what their clique tells them to, and their patrons just want a more censored AI environment for reasons that have nothing to do with copyright.
