Something wonderful about the Ten Commandments: they teach you how you have been blessed."You shall not steal" has a mirror Commandment that boils down to "you shall give," especially to those in need.So when you have anything extra TO give, know that our Lord has blessed you with both protection from the temptation to steal AND the opportunity to be generous. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house" has the mirror Commandment of helping your neighbor protect his house: how great a blessing it is to have the means to help your neighbor, as this also includes the means of protecting your own home! This also helps us in fulfilling what I call the "third aspect" of the 9th Commandment, which is cherishing and being grateful for the home God has given you - in and of itself, this teaches us blessing. We often think of the Law as either *just* bad news on account of our sins, or a laundry list of things we must do on account of our love for God.If we JUST leave it at that, we are missing out on the wonderful things God teaches us about Himself and what He does for us within the text of the Law. Lex Semper Accusat, surely, but the Christian in a state of Grace also has much from the Law to rejoice in.

@SuperLutheran The truth is, of course, that the curtness of the Ten Commandments is an evidence, not of the gloom and narrowness of a religion, but, on the contrary, of its liberality and humanity. It is shorter to state the things forbidden than the things permitted; precisely because most things are permitted, and only a few things are forbidden.G.K. Chesterton
