I don’t understand this. Every trade needs people and they all pay more than Starbucks with even a little experience.It’s like there is this mentality that working in manufacturing and repair is beneath you once you have a useless diploma, so people spend forever making coffee and stocking shelves for baseline pay and negligible tips instead of recognizing college as a sink cost with no return.Don’t throw good future time after a bad past time investment.

I have to roll my eyes a bit whenever I see non-lefties talking about "late stage capitalism." If you've had the courage to reject the establishment ideology it seems like a step backwards to adopt their categorisations and jargon.He made an interesting point about the west being soul crushing due to it's success vs. the USSR being soul crushing due to it's failure though. Not sure what to do with that yet but it's worth considering.My main take on the USSR vs. Rothschildism situation is mostly to wonder how the west could fail. The USSR failed because the commies let down their guard and allowed soviet citizens to see how much poorer they were than the average westerner. That was a major fuckup, if they hadn't done that they'd still be going.In our situation though... the globalists have things buttoned down pretty tight. The trades are certainly better than service but at this point (at least in canada) tradesmaxxing is not a no brainer strategy. There are other considerations, often service jobs pay good tips and allow you to not work as much or as consistently, which when you still cant afford a family or property, starts to seem like the better deal. There are often longterm barriers to advancement in the trades that seem opaque, you destroy your body, your coworkers are goof drug addicts, your boss is exploitative, etc.Working is not good inherently, people want to do it less and they are right too. Ok i am a wagie in service to a bloated suit guy when i bring him his lobster, but when im tiling the bathroom in his mansion im not in service? Its pretty much shit all around, id rather be poor and sell potatos if that were possible.

The sticking point for these types of conversations is always the definition of Capitalism. I think we can agree the free market works best, but the system we have now is basically government cronies scratching the backs of corpos with tax breaks and regulations. A lot of people employ this fatalism that this is what Capitalism always devolves into, but that's not necessarily the case when a certain ethnic group is excised and we all know who I'm talking about.Also Eastern Europe definitely needs to stop assuming the GAE does anything altruistically. Yeah, where I used to live there were no unions at all, just a bunch of guys running small businesses. Really varied in quality of what they did too, my great grandma had her roof replaced and the roofers completely fucked it. Really shoddy work, but they were the only roofing company within 20 miles.But yeah union guys are basically the best, it's just mostly urban centered since that's where the union gets their work from. Technically frowned upon to do sidework, but ehh?

I remember this debate was happening regarding farm labour during the pandemic. The news media was complaining that millenials "didnt want to get their hands dirty" and that this might threaten the harvest. In reality no one was doing anything to try to make farm labour even slightly appealing. They pay teams of guatamalans maybe 6 grand a person to come up here, to live on a gigantic vegetable farm in a construction shelter and harvest 10 hours a day.Replacing these migratory workers with city dwellers, for only a portion of one season, with no offer of transportation, no intonation that there might be wage increases to reflect the higher cost of living here, as opposed to Guatemala, was always an absurd fantasy. Around here hvac and other meme businesses were filled with indians doing questionable work. Immigration schemes abounded. @Shadowman311 @DW2 I had the opportunity to interact with some Poles for work earlier in the year and this is 100% true.Their entire worldview is based around how happy they felt in the 90s when the USSR collapsed and their city got a McDonalds.No matter how much you try to explain that their support for the US is basically summoning a demon that wants to rape and devour their children they just can't get past their nostalgia.Kind of like boomers in that sense.
