@MountainJay @adam @Genen Once you use an Android phone you will start laughing at the Apple users. So many convoluted tasks. Like the double thumb typing. I had a palm pilot in the 90s and I loved the gesture typing. Android has swipe and it's freaking fast. Still not as good as a keyboard for real work. Apple allows gesture typing too but you have to enable it in some cases. Apple has gone from a computer empowering company to a rent seeking digital landlord.

@wyelkins @adam @Genen I have an "older" phone with no need to upgrade anytime soon. Some of my friends got the 6a, and I was quite impressed. It's nice that both major phone OS have really reached the point where they're basically computer-tier in power. Despite the best(worst?) attempts of low quality web development and app churn out, a four year old mid-high or better device can do everything with ease. I can even side-load the Pixel camera APK if I want to sharpen things up.

I'm enough of a nerd that I'm almost 20 years into having a smartphone. I liked Android at first and I have now grown attached to the features that the average Apple user doesn't care about (or the average Android user for that matter). Point is, it's not about money, although it is nice that my charging cables don't have a $5 markup for no reason at all. If I was getting a phone today, I'd probably go with Android because I'd strip it to bare bones. If I was advising a random normie on a new phone, I'd probably tell them to get an iphone because they work really well out of the box and their cameras are great. Point is you don't need to be such a gay nerd about it.

@CoramDeo @adam @Genen @BillGatesMD @Nou I like their stuff but I haven't been a big fan since they did their own custom UI (TouchWiz) years back. That was a boondoggle that slowed everything down and drained battery massively compared to stock android. I just want a phone that does what it's supposed to do without **assuming what I want**. I want a lot of ram, decent storage, good battery life, and good camera. It can weigh a pound for all I care.

@adam @Genen @BowsacNoodle @BillGatesMD @Nou Yea. The phones and tablets still have the Samsung One UI layered in top. We run into all sorts of weird app issues in testing unique to Samsung. Donāt get me wrong, Apple presents itās own issue because of the screen sizes available across the product line. And now the floating graveyard ot whatever they call it on the latest phones. Good times. Yes, make a simple, powerful phone, and leave me alone.

@CoramDeo @adam @Genen @BillGatesMD @Nou What we need is some tech companies to come together and do what was done on the desktop side. Make a standard for sizing and components and make stuff modular. I know it will be more expensive. I'm fine with it being more expensive. I want control of my device. There are a lot of people like me; certainly enough to bankroll a project like this. Motorola or some other lagging manufacturer would be a good choice to push this forward, but they'd need to get Asus and a few other big names in the "power user" space in on it. We'd still need to do something about the OS side too, but this is all daydreaming.
