@apps What would you think of a #QuoteBoost action like that in @elk for #Fedilab? It's just a combined Boost and Reply so that the timestamp of the reply is very close to the boost's timestamp. Even if these entries aren't displayed a a thread in the timeline, I would love that the reply would immediately follow the boost even in crowded timelines. https://m.webtoo.ls/@TodePond@mastodon.social/109590708347315285(BTW I think #QuoteBoost should be called #ReplyBoost since that's what it really is.)

@rompe @apps @elk Let's add #ReplyBoost to the ring for name-choice! :)either way, I like that the focus is on the 'boost' π

@apps @TodePond @rompe @elk I support this it's simple to implement just grouping of a toot and a reply in a client side (essentially it's a reply and it will append to main thread, and it appears in notification as a reply) but it looks so similar to a quote and it serves to provide context to a π±πΆπ£ππͺπ€ reply

@TodePond Another alternative wording: #BoostWithReply? I coined the phrase #QuotePost via #BoostReply, but it's way to long to fit in one hashtag.https://mastodon.social/@katzentratschen/109574096939888946@rompe @apps @elk

@katzentratschen@TodePond @rompe @elkBut currently there is no api response supporting that feature?For instance Mastodon could make it possible by having status.reblog(Status)!=null with status.content(String)="quoted reply from user".

@apps @katzentratschen @rompe @elk does it need an api response? it feels related to how the post is presented in the UI more than anything else. Seems like Elk is already doing it :)

@apps I was just brainstorming based on @keithwilson's suggestion for #QuoteReply. https://fediphilosophy.org/@keithwilson/109456249890156614In addition @youronlyone made a good analysis of Tumblr's reblogging feature.https://public.garden/objects/74117c66-7d0b-47a9-a13c-86d012f37a4a@TodePond @rompe @elk

@katzentratschen@TodePond @rompe @elkIf I correctly understand what you want with Fedilab:1 - Add a "quote boost button" that will allow to write a reply to a post. 2 - when submitting, it will first automatically boost the message and then publish the reply. Visually, the app detects a boost from a user and a reply to this boost from the same user really close in time.Group them visually like in the screenshot?

@TodePondIt can be done, but an API support will offer compatibility with all clients. @katzentratschen @rompe @elk

@katzentratschen@keithwilson @youronlyone @TodePond @rompe @elkIs there fedilab beta testers in this discussion? We will try to add that in beta for tests.

@apps @katzentratschen @rompe @elk Oh I mean, clients can continue working in the same way and that works fine too (showing the reply and the boost separately)it's up to you for fedilab of course! just sharing something I'm enjoying in elk at the moment :)

@apps @katzentratschen @TodePond @rompe @elk The request of #QT feature is mostly comestic UI, π―π°? How the client will show boosted toot with context above/below quoted post,Think of it as π΄π°π§π΅ π²πΆπ°π΅π¦, a workaround while not revamping whole #mastodon codebase (notification, post visibility, muting etc) which @Gargron has no inclination to doIt's an alternative to π©π’π³π₯ π²πΆπ°π΅π¦ that's already deployed in other instances (copy link and comment)
