I'm a big Debian and gnome fan and have to run it on all my machines! :ablobspin: :ablobhyperwubbel: I've been running Debian (testing/weekly builds) for months continuously now, with no issues and so used to it. I also like how debian comes with vanilla gnome. It's been the best distribution to enter my life. Glad I chose Debian. Those who run Debian, what made you do it?#debian #linux #distribution #freesoftware #opensource #foss

@pmarg @debian I am in love with Debian too. Don't know what started me there but I couldn't be happier with my desktop. Also got two kids on it (they mostly just play Minecraft) to show them there are ✨options✨

@pmarg @debian > Those who run Debian, what made you do it?I think it (Debian-0.9something) was the 1st distribution with easy updates I met.Previously I only saw fresh installs as method for this.Ok... was in a different millennium.I still have Debians running but...62/0B^MG*P3=I}x"1>|q\U\Psr`.`wNF7(A>$91P(I ~8W1ehnZZ7!8NO CARRIER

@pmarg I don't run Debian currently but have in the past. I did so because I like their installer. It's nice to get to choose a DE during install, in my case Mate.

@pmarg @debian I like that Debian is stable to use, reliable (no CentOS-type disasters) and that its development is pretty stable anyway. I don't mind much even though the packages are old. Except Emacs - because Org-mode/roam (for writing and notes).

@pmarg @debian I have been running Debian since the 90's when I could get it on a bunch of CDs. I dallied with Ubuntu for a while, but it's been years...

@pmarg @debian Way back in the dark ages I found that you could do a full #debian OS upgrade and not even reboot until you wanted to move to a new kernel. Back in the the early oughts it felt like Windows machines had to reboot if you looked at them funny. Of course once I realized it was community based and would never be abandoned or corrupted by a company I never looked back. I started back in the “potato” timeframe.
