@kabrams does my instance now to have to block your instance because of the anti free speech stance?I understand that instance blocking is a nice tool against spam, but I wonder can people still follow specific people from a blocked instance?

we will not reverse this action without substantial evidence of improvement on the part of your instance as well as a commitment to upholding the safety of marginalised users in the future.the issues which were brought up are not ones that can be solved by encouraging individual users to block other individuals. they're systemic, and the road forward begins with acknowledgment thereof, as well as the path laid out by the admin over at suedi.club, et cetera.

@jeena to be very clear, we limited/silenced them, rather than fully blocked/suspended. our users are still free to follow their users, and their users are free to follow ours, although Mastodon will force those to a follow request rather than allowing following automatically. that's all.what, precisely, do you mean in this case by "free speech"?

@jeena I try to put moderation notices up for limit/silence actions as well because they do affect our userbase and they deserve to know why certain instance followers come with a follower request.

@jeena that doesn't really answer my question, though. Is your instance pro-free-speech in the sense you would allow people on your instance (or federate with instances) that are anti-abortion, anti-Semitic, etc.
