And with that, their song still contained a bit of irony and sardonic satire. To create something similar to Kino, a band should have trodden a similar development path. Kino was not the only good band, which has appeared in the 80s in the SU (or nearly after its collapse), but there was no other quite like them. Together these bands form what is now known as “Russian rock”, yet each band sounds differently, and Kino is but one of its facets.I mean, you can’t just listen to something, and create something that would turn out alike. It would be an artificial mock-up, albeit it may have some grain of creativity. While the music is eternal (and thus can be drawn from), the mindset is something that forms in real time and highly differs based on what you feed to your mind. In general, I think to aim to create “something that would be like them”, steering one’s own creative impulse to match something, is a bad idea. It’s best when that impulse develops on its own. Then, if we speak about exposing Kino to other people, this will mean two things: either big companies take that, seeing the demand in it, and producing an entire factory of various “Kino-looking” and “Kino-sounding” soulless bands of teenagers, or you get single artists drawing from it in good will, but producing something totally different, than what you would like to see (just more Kino). Because an unrestrained creative impulse (if we call it that), finds its own way and turns out not alike the source. @fuggy @kiikoku I don't know. I see the live and let live take on it but I also see the potential of something being ruined through misappropriation and corrupting the art in some way or form. It's like liking thing, thing gets popular because of other thing the other thing is corrupted version of thing and now you're in bad company.People just doesn't want to be in bad company, want to enjoy things without associating with bad company.Like the Moon and star used to be a Hectre or some Anatolian Sun god symbol but now if you wave it around it somehow mans Islam. I don't think Greek Pagans want to be associated with people who will kill them if they don't stop their idolatry.
