       my early christmas giftA year ago, Ralph inherited a gumball ring from granpappy. He claims this is pure gold and each diamond is genuine and worth over 10 grand.After wearing it a while, he had a rash. He claims he's allergic to gold. This is extremely unlikely. He is more likely allergic to nickel and the ring is fake.Regardless, and not one to be discouraged, he continues to wear a ring that he is allergic to. This is the result.

       I am allergic to nickel. And my finger turns green if I wear a ring that is not at the very least stainless steal. But for real, a good gold ring is not that expensive. However that monstrosity would probably be thousands of dollars if real. Different types like this at Macy’s are like 10-15 grand. But what I will say is this: My rash does not hurt and looks nothing like that. It is green and on the surface.

       @josh It looks more likely that the problem is due to the ring simply being too small for his fingers, rather than anything else.I have a ring that's a little too small for the finger it's on, and it leaves a mark on my finger - it takes a bit of care to keep it from breaking the skin. I can imagine a ring that's way too small - and as thick as that - causing this problem without any allergies involved.
